The Future of Currencies : Human versus Techno Trust

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Currencies are getting momentum in many ways. Bitcoin is celebrating its 5th birthday with many burning news. Ethereum, Solarcoin, Litecoin, Freicoin, Dogecoin are doing their work of mapping international webs too. Their strength lies in the code that guides their vision and development.

At the same time local towns, transition towns, regions are creating local currencies based on social contracts, local trust and local exchanges.

These 2 developments are probably not opposed and certainly contribute to the same dynamics : creating alternative to the traditional currencies.

What will the future of currencies look like? Local one? Decentralised one? What are the most advanced design to certify trust in these networks? Human based trust with local open governance? Technological based trust with open decentralised governance? Both? Something else?

The idea is certainly not to give an answer but to open the field and explore what these scenarios have to offer : risks? opportunities?
