How to Build the Right Community for Your Collaborative Services
Limited Capacity seats available

New forms of communities are emerging, at the crossroad of physical and digital spaces. How do they change the rules of service production? In order to understand both the way those communities are structured and how they work, Chronos* has developed a frame of reference. It analyses the organisation and involvement of communities within collaborative services by focusing on six key dimensions:

1. Relations: the density of ties generated by the service

2. Selectivity: the terms of access to the service

3. Facilitation: integrating online and offline strategies

4. Location: the relation between the service and its location choice

5. Adaptability: the service’s level of flexibility

6. Governance: the modes of governance

Three indicators have been formulated for each dimension. They provide a mean to compare the different services’ strategies with regards to their communities.

We invite you to a workshop, where we will simulate the creation of a new collaborative service. The frame of reference will be used to understand how such a service gather, retain, manage and create synergies within its community.

Reconnecting With Creativity: Open Access to Making
We're working with the Royal Society of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce in the UK to explore the development of open networks to support maker culture. We’re currently developing a set of shareable design principles for open access to making, and will explore some of these at Ouisharefest through a practical exercise. We’ll set a physical rapid prototyping challenge in two groups with varying degrees of openness and autonomy followed by a wider discussion.

SharExpo: International Exhibitions and Sharing Economy
Limited Capacity seats available

The goal of the workshop is to understand the opportunities and challenges for using collaborative services during major events. All starts from Sharexpo, the path promoted by Collaboriamo with its partners to propose initiatives for testing collaborative services during the period of the Universal Exhibition in Milan.

Expo 2015 in Milan will be a great chance to promote the sharing economy in Italy as a mean to empower locals and fulfill the overflow of services demand by visitors from all around the world.
Just by a numerical point of view, current lodging, mobility, food and tourism service providers will be inadequate to meet the millions of tourists expected in the Milan area during the event.
But the real estate for sharing economy is offering tourists a true p2p experience in accessing services shared with them by locals, living their homes, tasting their specialties, travelling and wandering with them in the north west area of Italy, so much industrially developed and so much underestimated by an environmental, artistic and historical point of view.
Locals would greatly benefit on the economical, cultural and citizenship sides.
To let locals engage the event and tourists enjoy an undisclosured Italy, and to have local government endorse the sharing economy startups despite legacy trades reaction, some blocking issues must be addressed ahead of time regarding at least regulations, insurance, safety and taxation.

The team from collaboriamo.org, is working heavily on these themes trying to clearly identify the specific problems and watching how governments all around the world are trying to solve them.

This is why we would like to make a workshop showing the sharing economy opportunities for Expo 2015 in Milan and working with all participants to complete and refine our view on what is going on in other countries, in order to write a document about the best practices and the specific actions that could benefit all the Expo stakeholders.
The document will be presented to citizens and local government in a big event about the sharing economy for Expo that will be held in June in Milan.

We want to make a difference in Milan, and we know that Ouishare Fest will be a unique chance for sharing experiences, getting inspirations and building a great proposal for Expo.

The workshop will take place in two sessions. A first introductory session will frame the opportunity (15 minutes):We'll focus on the process used for the project , in order to propose it as a model for the testing of collaborative services during major events.

Later, a co-creative (25 minutes) participants will be divided into four thematic groups (transport , food and accommodation, employment, leisure) ideally with maximum 5 people per group.

Each group will be asked to to brainstorm and answer questions about the opportunities offered by sharing services and what challenges arise.

Before closing pop-up workshop, moderators of each group will have 2 minutes report the results of the work in order to have a complete picture of what has emerged.

Platform Design Workshop: Corporations & The Collaborative Economy
Limited Capacity seats available

Thanks to the digital dynamics that are permeating all sectors of society, since software is eating the world, phenomena such as componentization, modularization and continuous transformation increasingly transform everything into a commodity: welcome to exponential innovation.

These dynamics are difficult to understand, have a pace that is simply untenable by organizational structures emerged from the first decade of the century, that struggle to understand and cope with the change.

Continuous disruption is pushing companies to run or die, and run may not be enough if you do not make strategic decisions based on a long-term vision. In this perspective, hyper connectivity urges any business to act as part of a social network, made up of active users that become community and help to create the right value, by ideating new use cases: these user interactions are source of growth and resilience for a business.

If, until now, we considered user-centered design a must, now it’s the time to design in a community centered fashion: businesses today need to become enabling platforms, no longer just produce value that is consumed by passive users.

Thanks to Design Thinking tools is now possible to design in a future-proof and anti-fragile manner, understanding motivations behind those platform users, and creating powerful organic, sustainable growth engines.

We will apply the Platform Design Canvas and Toolkit to several corporate industries (Retail, Automotive, etc...) to evaluate the potential disruptions that may be applied to existing models.

With talk of the sharing economy - how do we develop new models and social contracts for love and intimacy? How do we move from a love defined by scarcity to one defined by abundance? How do we move from individual partnerships to free ourselves to explore and interact with others on many planes. What from the open source philosophy can we bring to love? In this workshops, we'll share stories about our own experiences, desires, and intentions around shared love.

Competition Law & Regulations of Activities in the Sharing Economy
Limited Capacity seats available

Join this ShareLex collaborative workshop on grey areas in competition law and regulations of activities. We will explore legal initiatives and solutions for the sharing and collaborative economy.

The chosen format is a "world café", articulated around the three following questions:

  1. New businesses from the sharing economy are totally modifying the traditional competition environment. What does this inspire you?

  2. Share concrete examples of regulation you think are dangerous, abusive, non democratic, unfair.

Food & Agriculture: Visions for the Future
While speaking of communities in the sharing economy one should not forget that food and agriculture are at the very core of societies´ (and therefore communities´) needs.
From the early Teikei in the 60s to nowadays initiatives, what can we observe? What are the similarities, successes and learnings in the food area? Why are communities such a significant part of the future of food?
By bringing together producers and consumers, the rural & urban approaches, the southern and northern hemispheres as well as local communities our guests will share their experiences and visions of sustainable agriculture & food systems.
How can communities around farming and food facilitate social change? How can we rethink our relationship between producers and consumers in more participative, equal and sustainable ways? What other things can be done? In this focus-session we will have a look at those and more questions together.

How to Create A Community Around A Crowdfunding Campaign
Welcome to this workshop aimed at teaching how to create a fizzling crowdfunding campaign to build a true community around your project!

  • Crowdfunding is not magical

Successful crowdfunding means connection. It makes sense, doesn’t it? Word of mouth doesn’t travel without a personal network of supporters, however small it is. For some reasons, there is a misconception that free money just rolls in when a crowdfunding initiative is launched, despite the fact that there are many, many case studies available online (for free) from people who ran successful campaigns and report how hard work it had been. Widening the audience is one benefit of a campaign, but you have to start from somewhere small in order to expand your reach.

Here is the aspect of a crowdfunding campaign that isn’t as obvious as money-raising: building up a sizable contact list of engaged supporters. I can’t tell you how crucial this is not just to the one project, but to all of your future as a creator.

  • What is the program of this learning workshop?

After recalling the basic values of any crowdfunding campaign, we'll have a look at its engine: sharing. We will then study the case of two successfully crowdfunded European films, which illustrate the power of sharing and the need to develop its identity around an attractive and efficient cause and create its own "tribe". We will also see together what is the "snowball effect" and how critical it is to the sucess fo your campaign.
