Manjil Rana is the founder and president of a network of schools in Nepal named Maya Universe Academy. Instead of paying money to the school, the parents of the students volunteer at the school for two days of every month. The schools use this time from the parents to run small businesses and generate revenue to sustain the school. Maya Universe also provides free volunteering opportunities for committed individuals from all over the world. The innovative Maya model challenges traditional approaches of multinational organizations by trading with the poor, using time as the medium.
