Harry Halpin is a World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Team member in the Technology and Society Domain, where he is staff contact for the W3C Web Cryptography and Social Web Working Group. Directed by the inventor of the Web Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the W3C is the world's leading Web standards body to bring the Web to its full potential. He is working with the DCENT project on building a platform for direct democratic participation, which he hopes will be useful for crowd-sourcing a "Magna Carta" for the Web. He has a Ph.D. in Informatics from University of Edinburgh and quite a few books and publications ranging from crowd-sourcing to the philosophy of collective intelligence.
